It was hard to control my body while not moving the doppelganger, but I magaged to reach the dungeon’s entrance. I stuck my invisible toe over the line and reached out to the Void Crystal. I felt it flutter in shock at my presence. I drew myself up, my monster girls around me.

Inside the dungeon, arachne moved. They scurried about, ready to attack.

“My name is Leo, and I wish to negotiate your surrender,” I said to the builder. “Free the halflings and swear your loyalty to me, and I will not destroy you. Your arachne can see my power. Every monster girl with me is unique.”

I brought my toe back over the line and waited to see what happened. The halflings were captives, so he could move through the dungeon as easily as monster girls. The arachne all vanished. That was a good sign. I moved myself back and to the side in case an attack came.

A voice laughed out of the dungeon.

A dead halfling appeared. A girl with his throat slit, eyes sightless. The blood fresh.

“Paanee, capture him alive,” I ordered.

“Yesssss, Massster!” she hissed and slithered into the dungeon. Baaghi, Bjorni, Geista, Stute, Tuyet, and Yaramaza followed.

Why, why, why did builders think they could do what they wanted? Hurt who they wanted. I should just wipe them all out. When I had all the swords, when I had protected the Incarnation, I would ensure no more builders were brought.

No more pain would come to this world.

No more throats slit.

Chapter Forty-Five

Barany felt a change.

“Just as you suspected, there is another shrine,” Barany told Auniasiiriliiania.

The builder hated the Company. Despised the slave collar around his throat binding to him. They used his monster girls. Fucked them. Hurt them. Killed them and forced him to revive them. He had no choice in any of this.

“What is the Glyph?” she asked. “Death?”

“I don’t know,” he told the elf through the bound. She was his servant. Sworn to serve him, and yet he was their slave.

“Then move your Vault to it.”

A shiver ran through Barany. “It’s in Wai the Drowner’s land.”

“And? He has not found it. Do it, unless I need to speak with Therodin. Do you want to be punished again.”

Barany whimpered. Right now, Therodin led the Company and many of Barany’s monster girls on raiding a new Light dungeon builder that had appeared. If Therodin grew angry at Barany. The young man wanted to cry.

He wanted to be set free of this torment.

Pity and concern spread on the face of the Soul of the Void Crystal sitting on the black gemstone.

He sank into the interface and shifted his vault. A door appeared to his right. He rushed to it, sweat pouring down his body. He opened it up to see the geode. A sphere of crystal with a glyph floating in the air, a strange slot in the wall.

“The glyph is a tall, arrow rectangle made off our arrows,” he said.

“Death,” she said. “Touch it.”

Auniasiiriliiania smiled as she lay in her bed in the safe house.

The search for the appropriate builders was still on, but another plan was building in her head. If the Shrines ringed the entire world, could the spell be used to cover the entire world? One that would put to sleep every builder.

One that would keep new ones from appearing.

A way to save the world.

It’s a miracle, she thought, smiling.

Todlicht climbed onto the cargo ship at the Port of Hamburg. A cargo ship that would sail for America.

The undead builder did not care that he was soaking wet. He did not feel the temperature. He climbed over the railing and stared at the cargo containers. It was bound for the Port of Los Angeles via the Panama Canal.

It would take time, but he was patient.

He was a living corpse.

He opened one of the containers, found space, and climbed inside. He laid down on his back, closed his eyes, and drifted through dreams of revenge on Leo. He would find his twin in this world and enact his revenge.

Todlicht smiled.

Note: Sorry if this is a weird place to stop, I had to split book 10 in half. Book 11 is already 20 parts written and I just started the finale.
