Kassie waited by the teleport room, a concerned look on her face. I nodded to her.

“Take us home.”

He would become the elves’ puppet. They would use him to destroy Leo before forcing him to kill himself.

“We just need a Fire dungeon builder,” she said. “The elven rangers are watching the known mana veins and spawn points in the nation for any builder. Sadly, it is a one in twelve chance if we get the right type of builder.”

“Pity,” Therodin said. “Well, Barany will soon be as powerful as Leo the False and Fuegin. Though I fear we’ll need both of them to destroy Leo and his alliance of builders.”

Auniasiiriliiania nodded, still giddy. Their plans were progressing. That was all that mattered. She pushed off from the wall and strode out into the street. A disgusting dullahan rode by, one of Fuegin’s monster girls. She kept her head bowed low, stifling her chortles of delight.

“Few builders do.” Therodin smiled as if he was proud of this knowledge. “Do it!”

The binding collar clenched about Barany’s throat. He reached out and felt the mana veins that he possessed. “And?” Therodin looked confused.

“Aren’t you fighting to protect people?”

“I’m fighting to end the invaders. To let my world be free to exist how it pleases. When tyrants fall, there is always chaos. New nations will arise out of the ashes. It will be bloody, but that is life.”

Barany shivered. Therodin’s blade had probably killed as many people as Wai ever had. The civil war could leave tens of thousands dead, and the man didn’t care. Barany turned to the Void Crystal. There was nothing he could do about it.
