Chapter Three

The light from the woman faded.

Lucas Lucina groaned, finding himself lying on a stone floor. He blinked and pushed himself up. Everything was made of the same gray bricks, the joints filled in with a pale-ash mortar. The room was about ten feet by ten feet with a golden stand in the middle. On it, rested a black gem that hummed and shed a soft, purple light.
