Chapter One

Therodin marched through Barany’s dungeon. He needed to stay strong, and idling for months in the builder’s labyrinth dulled his sharpness. The Company’s plan was bearing fruit. They had turned Barany from a cub into a ravenous wolf ready to devour the world.

He had power.

Mana veins.

He had absorbed the domain of one of the true despots in this world, Wai the Drowner. Therodin smiled, remembering the thrill of burying his knife into the shocked builder’s chest. The monster had thought himself unassailable. He never thought one of his slaves could be a threat.
