Monday, August 10th, 2071 – Chasity “Chase” Glassner – Sierra Nevada, CA

The sun was hot as I crossed the mountain meadow. One of the cows had broken through the fence and wandered far from the cabin. The long summer had begun drying out the grass, turning greens to golds. I wiped at my brow and scanned the tree line a mile away for the missing cow with a pair of broken binoculars. One of the lens were cracked—Rex had dropped it last year—but the other still worked.
